CineTraits X Creative Solutions

We are proud to be partnering up and ambassadors for Creative Solutions.
This includes SmallHD, Wooden Camera, and Teradek.
I personally have used CS kit throughout my entire career, SmallHD still remains one of my favourite on-camera monitors.
Random little story, many years ago when I bought my first 501 SmallHD monitor, I actually bought that instead of a 7D Mark II, which felt like a crazy decision at the time to spend all of that money on a monitor instead of a camera body.
I remember to this day opening up that box, and it saying, "You Have Chosen… Wisely" And my goodness, did I... That monitor came with me everywhere I went, allowed me to see LUTs and colour back on the A7 series of cameras when no one else could, I could light in a way with confidence knowing that I could push the colours where I needed them to be. and having access to that monitor allowed me to often cheekily pull focus for camera ops, which got me in the door as a monitor dwelling 1st AC.
So it was a no-brainer for a collaboration.

Wooden Camera - Eterna 55
We went hard going for Wooden Camera for all of our support accessories on our Eterna 55 test camera.
This was a no-brainer, as it offered its D-Box system that allows for x2 2-pin and x2 3-pin RS Fischer connectors for power, directly on the top plate, as this is an elegant and clean way to power multiple accessories.
This was a must as we would have a SmallHD monitor, CineTape, and even in future a BitBox running on camera at all times.
One of the most important factors for us was also being able to use the original top handle for certain documentary shoots that we were still a part of, and while this camera is not hungry by any means, the D-Box allows us to take power from a block battery without having to constantly unplug and plug in the main camera power port.
This might sound minor, but our power port is already quite wiggly on the back of the body so it's much nicer to be able to deliver power straight into the D-Box instead.

There is more coming to this article once we have used the cage even further.
