Acquisition Format Selector
In DevSwitch between different acquisition formats to see how the same lens performs across cameras, sensor modes, and recording codecs.
In Development
The Acquisition Format Selector is currently in development. It is partly inactive and may have limited functionality across some areas of the site. We're actively working on expanding its availability.
What Is the Acquisition Selector?
Some lenses in the CineTraits database have been tested across multiple acquisition formats — different cameras, sensor models or recording codecs, or even just retested at a later date with the same camera, just in another interesting and applicable outdoors environment. Essentially, retested. The Acquisition Format Selector lets you switch between these captures — most notably to see the total potential coverage within larger sensors.

Where to Find It
The acquisition selector appears in the toolbar on lens detail pages whenever a lens has more than one acquisition format available. It shows the currently active format and a dropdown arrow. Click it to see all available formats for that lens — the active format is highlighted and tier-locked formats show a crown icon.

How Acquisition Affects Test Data
Shooting ARRIRAW Open Gate versus ProRes Super 35 changes how much of the lens's image circle is used, which affects edge performance, vignetting, and overall character. A lens that vignettes heavily on a large-format sensor may look perfectly clean on Super 35. By offering multiple acquisition formats, CineTraits lets you evaluate a lens in the context that matches your actual production workflow.

Tier-Locked Acquisitions
Some acquisition formats may require a higher subscription tier to access. These are marked with a tier crown icon in the dropdown. The primary acquisition is always available at the lens's base tier, but additional captures — especially those shot on higher-end camera systems — may require Indie or Hollywood access.

Availability
Not every lens has multiple acquisitions — it depends on our testing schedule and the equipment available. As the platform grows, we'll continue adding alternative captures for key lenses. Lenses with only a single acquisition won't show the selector at all, keeping the interface clean.
