Optical Detuning
Optical detuning is a deliberate modification of a lens's internal or external elements to alter its rendering characteristics, introducing controlled imperfections that add character, softness, and a unique signature to the image.
Our soon-to-be-released Detune Kits are carefully designed simple tool sets that allow filmmakers and photographers to perform simple optical modifications at home on specific lens models, safely and repeatably, without having to take out more than three screws or see the inside of a lens.

Canon FDn Series
Our first Detune Kit is made specifically for Canon FDn lenses. We're still heavily working on the process for this, but having tested and played, we found a very easy and non-destructive way to achieve some funky looks with these lenses without having to open up any of the major optical elements, and maintaining all full mechanical functionality.
