The next-generation visual lens database!

This is our approach to a long-term visual lens database done in a way that has never been done before. This is also our pilot into gathering feedback on the concept and eventually achieving a solution to be able to do this long-term as our sole mission.

Our lens selection is small but we hope that the vision of what we are trying to do here is immediately apparent and the community understands what we are going for.

What is CineTraits?

CineTraits is a visual lens database, offering an ever-growing database of lenses, but for the first time ever, also the associated real-world visual tests data, which represents what images the lens actually produces.

We've associated tools to help users find comparable lenses faster than they ever have before - Truly becoming your next home for all things optics for your projects.

The three core 'Elements' of CineTraits.

• At the heart of CineTraits is the database, a spreadsheet-style, sortable, and filterable approach to every lens set and lens on the market - Both in list view, hierarchy and card view.
• This then ties into our unique Character Trait system, taking key lens characteristics and assigning strengths and varieties to each lens. Giving a new way to filter and find lenses with similar characteristics or completely new ones before you even look at any visual data.
• Which leads on to our visual data. For the first time ever, each lens has real-world comparable test data throughout our unique test scenarios, along with applicable tools to enable users to visually look Through the visual looks of lenses, not just the lenses from the outset.

We offer a whole host of different tools to incorporate all of these functions together, from our compare page to compare visual data and character traits, along with our discover page to search through visual data first, and so much more.

The Beta

We have decided to launch this with a much smaller selection of lenses than what most may expect, But being perfectionists, we knew we were probably never going to launch if we didn't launch in a beta state to start engaging with the community. So we've launched now with a small selection of lenses, hoping that users and brands can acknowledge the power of this tool, and we can continue to afford to grow.

When New Lenses?

If a lens fell into our lap today, within about a week we'd have our main test data available to view. We add our test data dynamically so you don't have to wait months for new sets, etc.

What's Next?

Here at CineTraits we are constantly working with the community, manufacturers, and ourselves to get more optics on the database. You can check up on the green room to see the voting and current lenses that are on our radar. These are lenses we want to be testing as soon as possible, but ultimately will swing based on what the community wants to see.
